50 Ways To Better Business: #40: Having No Purpose?

Are there times that you feel like your organization has no purpose or sense of direction? Are you or your company are just wandering aimlessly through your business life?

Don't feel bad, most businesses, business owners, managers feel this way. You wouldn't be a "normal" business owner if you didn't feel this way once in a while.

It's when you feel this way ALL the time that is NOT normal.

It is normal to feel down or wander aimlessly when it comes to dealing with your business. Market conditions, customer spending, government regulations, supply and demand, and other factors are constantly changing. So it comes as no surprise that a small & medium sized business has to constantly adjust its day-to-day operations.

While all the planning in the world can NEVER fully take into account what's going to happen tomorrow. It only takes into account what we would like to happen.

Thus when you feel like you and your organization have no purpose or sense of direction it is time to stop spinning your wheels and quickly determine what is the cause (economy, need for product/service, bad press, internal issues).

Once determined, make your adjustments, and then ACT.

However, don't take too long or conditions WILL change again.

Until Tomorrow,
