50 Ways To Better Business: #43: A work environment or career field you hate

What if one day you woke up and realized you are in a work environment or career field you hate?

What if you didn't know what to do? How to get out? How to save your sanity?

Of course, the common sense thing to do is to get out and get out fast!!!!

However, common sense is not something that is always the sensible thing. There are commitments that need to kept and issues that unfortunately have priority (i.e., putting food on the table, paying the bills, etc.)

That's OK

There is a solution or numerous solutions.

The most obvious is find yourself another place to work! Then again, there is no promise that things will be better. Remember, that old saying about the grass being greener. This should not discourage you, give it a thought (a serious thought) but don't be hasty in leaving your present job.

Who knows things may change and that which is causing you grief may depart. If it is an individual, they may be just as upset or dislike their present situation that are taking that dislike out on anyone and everyone. While this may be very unprofessional they just can't help themselves. That's OK because one of two things will happen that individual may get fed up and leave or others around him will get fed up with his shenanigans and leave thus putting more job duties on that individual which then compounds the dislike and then their only alternative is to leave because their dislike of the job or the company or whatever just got compounded even greater because of their own doing.

However, as I tell people all the time "May sure your resume is ALWAYS up-to-date." You never know when opportunity comes knocking. Having an up-to-date resume is by far one of the best things you can do to be ready for any opportunity. You may say to yourself "but opportunity hardly ever knocks for me."

What are you doing NOW to ensure that opportunity will keep on knocking for a long time to come?
Are you seeking self-improvement by getting industry certifications, school (Bachelors or Masters), reading and retaining, writing or ??? If you are doing NOTHING then don't expect ANY situation to change, don't expect Opportunity to knock often or if at all.

You hold your fate in your hands! Make the change to make things for the better happen! That is the ONLY way you can make better or move out of a work environment or career you hate.

Until Tomorrow,
