50 Ways To Better Business: # 49: Your own tardiness

Don't you just hate it when people are late to work? to meetings? to dinner? to a party? Seriously, there are actually people that arrive late to a party! (what a travesty!)

Well, what about your own tardiness? Do you hold yourself accountable? You most certainly hold your staff accountable when they show up late for work. Who holds you accountable?

That's right as a business owner or manager it behooves you to be on time, if not early, for work, for a meeting, for anything on your calendar. It not only makes you look good and punctual but it also goes a long way when it is time to set the example. By arriving early you are setting the example and setting the standard that you expect your staff to follow.  Once the example is set it is easy to follow and maintain.

As for those customers/clients or potential clients that are habitually late to meetings. Keep it simple, tell them that you will meet with them at your location (not at any place of their choosing). That way you are not stuck at some restaurant table by yourself waiting for someone to show. At your location, you can continue working until the moment they show up, whenever that may be. This most certainly lowers your frustration level and increases your patience and productivity.

FYI, increasing patience and productivity is always a GOOD THING!
